I was raised Baptist, and for Sunday School I memorized vast numbers of verses in King James's elegant English.

I had no idea, at the time, how helpful this would be in studying literature.

Like you, my early exposure to the good book left me with a baffling knowledge of mesopotamian history which served me well in Jr. High but raised suspicions among teachers.

My Aunt Dorothy was the superintendent of our Sunday School and all the kids were terrified of her because she had had polio and walked with a special black thick heeled shoe.

I used to threaten to threaten them with her wrath if they didn't comply with my wishes. Not that I had any specific wishes in mind. I just liked to scare them. I told them she was God's enforcer.

Kids in Sunday school, should be scared.

I saw her at my Granny's funeral. And she was as spry and threatening as ever. She uses a cane now, to supplement her shoe. She is big fan of Glenn Beck.

So, I am scared of her.
